Why I started braiding rockets

It was a Tuesday in 2021. I was coaching Maria, and her stringing was dead — the ball was flying wherever it wanted. That’s when I realized: my students have been working on technique for months, but they’re neglecting the instrument itself. That moment changed everything. I learned to string professionally — because I treat your racket the way I want mine to be treated.

When is it time for new strings?

A string has broken – obvious, but important: don’t play along with the others.
The ball flies out of control, even with a good shot.
You hear a “dead” sound — without that nice click.
A season has passed — even if you rarely play, the strings get old.

Questions about braiding

“Why is reordering with you different than in the store at Sportmaster?”

Great question! Big stores offer convenience, but here’s the difference:In Sportmaster: The one who is stretched asks, “What is the stretch?” They lift the stretch. You take it. The transaction is complete.For me: I ask, “How is your game? Are you having any hand issues? What are you working on?” I watch you play. I know your strengths and weaknesses. I recommend settings based on YOUR specific needs, not general guidelines.I also use top-of-the-line equipment (Babolat Star 5) that guarantees accuracy to 0.1 kg. And if something goes wrong, you know exactly where to find me — probably as an on-court tutor!

“I’m a beginner. Do I really need a professional re-arrangement?”

YES! In fact, beginners benefit MORE from proper string tuning. Here’s why:As a beginner, you are still developing your technique. Playing with dead strings makes learning more difficult because:Less power = you compensate with poor techniqueLess control = you can’t tell if it’s because of your shot or the equipmentMore shock to the arm = higher risk of injuryMy recommendation: Restring at least 1-2 times a year with affordable synthetic strings (€7-20). Your developing game will thank you!

“What if I want to try different strings? Can I experiment?”

I LOVE this question! Curiosity means you are serious about improving yourself.. Absolutely! In fact, I encourage experimentation once you’ve been playing for a while. Here’s how we do it:Step 1: We start with a basic setting (usually a synthetic multifilament thread with medium tension)Step 2: After you’ve played with it for a few weeks, we’ll discuss what you like/dislike.Step 3: Based on your feedback, I suggest changing ONE variable (different cord type OR different voltage, not both)Step 4: You try it, give feedback, and we adjust.This methodical approach helps you understand what actually works for YOUR game
